What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Officer position at LIBERTY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION?
Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is seeking a motivated professional with the ability to build strong relationships with new and existing credit union businesses and members. Applicants must be self-motivated, have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to generate business in the Louisville, KY market. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a team environment, independently, and have the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Knowledge of LFCU’s products and services as well as a strong understanding of the credit union’s core values is essential to the candidate’s success. In addition to standard office time, this position requires travel, including overnight stays. Some evening and weekend work may be required as well. If applicable, an initial one to three-week training program will be held in Evansville, IN. Applicants must have the ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and execute a strategy to help increase LFCU market share, membership, and growth in deposits and loans.
- Develop and manage a network of relationships with representatives of the community to discuss opportunities to introduce and promote the Credit Union to potential members.
- Implement and manage an effective referral network program.
- Maintain reporting, tracking, and measurement of community outreach initiatives and results. Report regulary to the SVP of Marketing on the progress and outcome.
- Solicit sponsorships
- Conduct and schedule in-office sales presentations to promote membership, product and services, and drive account opening at on-site events.
- Reseach and recommend networking opportunities to the branch managers.
- Seek out select employee groups (SEGs) to include in the credit union’s field of membership.
- Submit online applications to the NCUA for groups that have applied to be included in our field of membership charter.
- Solicit existing SEGs and schools to have on-site credit union presentations and information tables.
- Solicit employee groups to use LFCU’s corporate services, including those provided by other vendors on our behalf, and help them open those services.
- Give presentations and/or man information tables at SEG and school meetings.
- Give presentations on financial service topics to school classes upon request.
- Assist SEGs and schools in establishing Health Savings Accounts for their employees.
- Prepare new member packets for SEGs and schools.
- Review the monthly SEG report to determine areas that need contact.
- Learn and use Salesforce software to track SEG and school contacts.
- Coordinate and attend special events in the Louisville, KY market.
- Manage a calendar of events for business development related events.
- Work with the marketing team to ensure the branches have promotional items needed when attending network events.
- Research and recommend special community events for the branch managers to attend.
- Monitor planning, schedules, and implementation as required for proper execution of each event.
- Develop and manage a network of relationships with representatives of the community to discuss opportunities to introduce and promote the Credit Union to potential members.
- Assist the marketing team with the opening of new branches.
- Partner with the VP of Retail Banking to help coordinate the grand opening and ribbon cutting.
- Ensure local chamber members and other members of the community are invited to the ribbon cutting.
- Act as a board chair for local community non-profits.
- Develop networking contacts through the chambers and community organizations.
- Track Marketing expenses and maintain satisfactory expenses for each calendar year.
- Develop a working knowledge of the credit union's data processing, word processing, and graphic design software systems.
- Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.
- Gain knowledge of all LFCU products and services.
- Perform any other duties assigned by my supervisor or management.
Assist in the planning and facilitation of various marketing events and programs that include:
- Member Appreciation Days.
- Assist with mailings and other marketing needs of the LLC entities (Liberty Wealth Services).
- Assist with Student Days Initiatives for LFCU.
- Assist in organizing employee teams and workers for various sponsorships and community involvement events.
- Track sponsorship requests from submission until event completion.
- Attend Monthly Branch Managers meetings to be a liaison between marketing and branch operations.
- Be contact person for in-branch fundraiser initiatives for non-profits in surrounding areas.
