The Senior Manager Logistics Services is responsible for supervising the Logistics Team to procure truck, rail, and air transportation services, create operations orders, purchase orders, projections data, invoice approvals, and provide detailed handoffs to the Senior Manager Cargo Movement for operational execution of all U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM)/Department of Defense (DoD) air and ground cargo movements including managing all compliance matters in support of any subcontractor contracts between Liberty Global Logistics LLC (LGL) and its vendors. This position works in close coordination with the following teams: Customer Service & Documentation; Trade Management; Pricing; Operations; Operations Services; Accounting; and Sales & Marketing as well as the LGL Dubai Office. Senior Manager Logistics Services may also be requested to procure air or ground transportation services to support other U.S. Government (U.S.-Flag Impelled) or commercial cargoes. As Senior Manager, the position will supervise the Logistics Manager and potential Logistics Team Members as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Director, U.S. Flag Cargo, Director of Logistics and Director, U.S. Flag Sales and Customer Relations to canvass all relevant resources for short term and long term USTRANSCOM/DoD/U.S. Flag-impelled cargo opportunities.
- Coordinate with Senior Logistics Manager to ensure LGL has a reliable, efficient, and competitive transportation service provider pool through validation of subcontractor pricing, recommendation, and selection of awards to vendors based on best value.
- Oversee all aspects of obtaining transportation services including cost quotations and price negotiations to maintain a reliable and efficient evaluation and award process that complies with LGL’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and supports ground and air transportation services for both DoD/ USTRANSCOM and commercial cargo.
- Coordinate with Senior Logistics Manager to ensure performance and evaluations metrics for ground and air transportation providers are maintained. This is critical to enabling LGL to have ready access to capacity and capability to support both U.S. Government and commercial cargo requirements.
- Endeavor to expand the LGL Transportation Service Provider Network to ensure that LGL can maintain high quality service in both existing and emerging markets such as Europe and the Far East.
- Forecast logistics requirements based on Door-to Port/Port-to-Door cargo bookings.
- Ensure the Logistics Manager and Logistics Coordinators, provide timely solicitations of cost quotes for transportation services and provide oversight of financial analysis to support transportation service provider awards to support cargo movement requirements.
- Ensure that cost quotes from LGL’s global subcontractor network can support all aspects of intermodal transportation and logistics management of both U.S Military and commercial cargo.
- Ensure proper oversight of preparation and analysis of pricing received to provide proper financial recommendations to the Pricing Team.
- Coordinate with Senior Logistics Manager to identify and analyze periodic key performance indicators (KPIs) including oversight for KPIs directly under control of the Logistics Team and make reports to the Executive Team that include an assessment and recommendations for areas of focus for improvement.
- Overall oversight for review of subcontractor pricing solicitations issued by the Logistics Team, requests, negotiations, and concurrence for recommendation of award for all door cargo movements.
- Coordinate with Senior Logistics Manager to provide monitoring, evaluating and subcontractor performance metrics to provide Evaluation Reports to each subcontractor. The focus of evaluations is on performance and feedback must be provided to subcontractors in a timely manner to ensure issues are addressed and appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Oversee Operations Orders issued to subcontractors including Annual reviews.
- Plan, schedule, and facilitate meetings with subcontractors for further business opportunities and synergies.
- Support Sales/Marketing in the DoD segment, to include vessel schedules, operations, subcontractors/vendors, cargo movements, overall timelines, equipment utilizations and delivery commitments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Logistics or LGL Executive Management Team.

Education, Training & Experience
This position requires an undergraduate degree (preferred in Logistics, Ocean/Air Transport/rail/truck) or equivalent experience in a similar position. Ten years’ experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding or a similar business and prior managerial responsibility is required. Due to the nature of the business, weekend and after-hours availability is essential. Some travel is required (10-15%). Obtaining government security clearance is required. Experience with U.S. Government contracting and the DoD is helpful with prior experience and familiarity with rolling stock, break bulk, U.S. Flag Impelled and project cargos preferred. The ability to communicate effectively while possessing good organizational and managerial skills is essential. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office including use of Excel and PowerPoint is required. The ability to understand the commercial business aspects of Liberty Maritime and LGL is essential.

Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
