QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma (AA Degree or BA degree preferred)
- Previous experience working with youth preferred but not required
- Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required
- Ability to follow detailed directions
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices
- Intuitive to the needs of the student
- Ability to work well with school personnel
- Ability to be flexible in assignment given
- Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principals and High School Guidance Counselors
SUPERVISES: None
JOB GOALS:
To ensure the appropriate, secure, and ethical administration of the AP assessments, in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Before the exam administration
- Admit and assign seats to students.
- Check identification of homeschooled students and/or students from other schools.
- During the exam administration
- Ensure that the proper seating distanceis maintained between students.
- Distribute testing materials.
- Assist students with filling out their identifying information on answer sheets.
- Supervise the testing room.
- Walk around the room to ensure students are working on the correct exam section.
- Guard against attempts at cheating and keep the room attended at all times, including during breaks.
- Complete a seating chart.
- Proctors must not
- Read, eat, drink, engage in conversation, correct papers, use a computer or laptop, or perform any activity not related to the administration.
- Use phones/mobile devices during the exam administration. If a proctor has a mobile device, it must be set to silent so it won't cause a disturbance or be a distraction. It should only be used during emergencies.
- After the exam administration
- Collect and account for all exam materials.
- Ensure students have properly identified their exam materials (with AP number labels, etc.).
- Dismiss students, making sure they do not take any exam materials.
- Return exam materials to locked storage.
- Other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Select hours during the school day in the month of May. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
