Principle Function:
This position is responsible for overseeing all programming and ministry for children/youth including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, summer programming, and special events including Vacation Bible School.
General Qualifications:
1) Must be a born again Christian who feels a call by God into ministry.
2) Must be willing to represent the social principles of the Global Methodist Church.
3) Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving records.
4) Must have some post high school ministerial or religious educational studies.
5) Must have a vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage, and implement a children’s/youth ministry.
6) Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills.
7) Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with children, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.
8) Must receive training in Ministry Safe policies and procedures and ensure those volunteering or assisting with children/youth have done the same.
Essential Duties:
· Work with the pastor and church volunteers to help plan, develop and implement all aspects of a balanced children/youth ministry in the areas of worship, discipleship, mission and outreach.
· Recruit, train, equip, and encourage volunteers to lead and/or assist with the children/youth ministry.
· Oversee children and youth Sunday school classes to include the recruitment of volunteers to teach classes and the selection of curriculum.
· Lead a weekly children’s/youth night with the main focus being to help them grow and mature in their personal faith.
· Coordinate with the Worship Leader to encourage children/youth participation in special events (i.e. Easter, Christmas).
· Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, etc.) Ensure communication with church staff, leadership, parents, and the congregation as a whole.
· Maintain records of important documentation such as medical records and parent consent forms.
· Develop and submit appropriate requests for children/youth funding including submitting a proposed annual budget to the Finance Committee.
· Be financially responsible and a good steward when overseeing the children/youth budget.
Evaluation:
This position is responsible to the Pastor and the Staff Pastor Parish Committee. A work performance evaluation will be completed by the Pastor and the Staff Pastor Parish Committee annually. Recommendations regarding salary adjustments for the coming year will be determined at that time.
This position is classified as part time position and does not include vacation, sick leave, or other benefits afforded to full time personnel.
