What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant [Advanced Spine & Brain Center] position at Liberty Hospital?
SUMMARY : The APP in this position will work with the surgeons, and may document verbal or telephone orders, as well as progress notes in both the hospital and clinic EMR. He / she will perform nursing assessments on new admissions, consults, patients presenting to the emergency department, and make rounds on established patients. Responsible for nursing intervention, performing nursing procedures, and providing patient education congruent with the medical plan of care. This position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of neurosurgery as it is related to her assigned specialty. This includes outpatient clinic assessment, inpatient / emergency nursing assessment, and first assistant duties. In addition, this position requires interpersonal skills to relate to the surgeon, patient, family members, ancillary personnel, and hospital personnel in a professional and appropriate manner.
Required Licensure / Certification / Registration : Current Missouri Registered Professional Nurse; current Missouri Advanced Practice Registered Nurse status OR Current Physician Assistant license
Preferred Experience : Experience working with a neurosurgeon in a hospital-based and office-based environment
Preferred Licensure / Certification / Registration : ACLS; BLS
