In this position, the team is seeking a Consultant / Sr Analyst that thrives and enjoys playing with data, explores and identifies interesting insights, provides actionable recommendations to the business, and develops an execution plan for our stakeholders. This Consultant / Sr Analyst will work closely with Product, Actuarial, and Underwriting leaders to utilize advanced analytics to identify risks that help differentiate customers within our WC product and determine the actionable steps Liberty Mutual can take to offer them the protection they need. In this role, you'll see a direct link between your work, our customers, and company goals. This role will report directly to the Auto & Work Comp Analytics Director.
The salary range posted reflects a range of remote locations and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Performs high complex analyses to evaluate business performance and identify trends and issues in Workers Compensation; makes actionable recommendations for improvements.
- Conducts high complexity analysis under minimal direction. As a subject matter expert for assigned states and product, with solid familiarity with regional/countrywide issues, completes state reviews and similar work for complex states or countrywide programs independently.
- Gathers and queries data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics and builds frameworks to help monitor execution to our key strategies. Will be looking for candidates with coding experience/expertise in either R, Python, or Advanced SQL.
- Effectively communicates sophisticated analyses into compelling insights and recommendations that can be easily understood and accepted by executive leaders
- Communicate areas of concerns that need to be addressed by stakeholders, providing thoughtful recommendations that influence product line decisions and initiatives.
- Through research, identifies and proposes changes to our product offerings.
- Analyzes trends and is responsible for tactical and strategic recommendations.
- Leads own work stream on all projects, manages low to moderate complexity projects independently, and conducts high complexity analyses under minimal direction. Responsibilities will vary based on experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, information management, economics, or other quantitative field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years, typically 4 years or more relevant work experience within advanced analytics
- Candidate displays intellectual curiosity, problem-solving skills, and motivation to work towards becoming an analytical thought leader.
- Prior experience with Commercial Lines preferred.
- Loves to navigate ambiguous and sizable data sets, search for interesting patterns and correlations, and apply statistical analyses that can uncover hidden problems and opportunities
- Proficient within SAS, Excel, and PowerPoint. R or Python highly preferred.
- Ability to foster and encourage teamwork and productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels and across organizational lines.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, as well as proven ability to effectively present technical concepts to non-technical individuals within and outside the organization.
- Must have good planning, organization, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to make data driven decisions
