Description
Markets, underwrites, and services moderate risks for an underwriting portfolio associated with a specified geographic area and/or producer/customer assignment.
This is a hybrid position. You will be required to go into the office twice a week if you reside within 50 miles of Indianapolis, IN office. Please note this policy is subject to change.
Responsibilities
- Underwrites new and existing accounts in conformance with underwriting guidelines.
- Works independently on standard existing accounts.
- Focuses heavily on developing underwriting skills, and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Promotes Surety account submissions from assigned producers or territory via marketing efforts and underwrites new business submissions with assistance, as appropriate.
- Develops and executes field marketing plans, when assigned.
- Explains the Liberty Mutual Surety target accounts strategy to producers/customers and quickly identifies accounts that are inside and outside these guidelines.
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
- At least 1 year, typically 1.5 or more years, of surety underwriting experience and/or other related business experience
- Typically includes completion of the Surety Underwriter Development Program
- Ability to successfully develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
- Demonstrates strong Surety underwriting fundamentals and core understanding of the Surety Underwriting process and principles of suretyship
- Demonstrated analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within defined authority
- Has a working knowledge of the key finance and accounting concepts, business law and ethical guidelines, and of the various Surety products underwritten by Liberty Mutual and/or across the Surety industry
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to successfully develop and maintain productive producer/customer relationships
- When applicable, successful completion of certifications
