Controls Engineer

What You’ll Do:
- Evaluate and refine electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process diagrams for precision and performance.
- Develop and maintain programming for control systems, such as PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
- Assemble instrumentation Bills of Materials (BOMs) featuring sensors, valves, and pre-built assemblies.
- Draft comprehensive Controls Narratives and other essential project-related technical documents.
- Diagnose issues, address customer concerns, and offer expert guidance to internal teams and clients.
- Oversee several projects simultaneously, ensuring all phases meet deadlines and documentation standards.
- Support equipment commissioning, either remotely or on location, and maintain lab and rental system controls.
- Partner with Project Engineers to establish yourself as the key resource for control systems expertise.
- Prepare cost estimates for controls-related hardware and update standard control designs as needed.
- Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs (familiarity with Rockwell Logix5000, FactoryTalk View, or Siemens TIA Portal is a bonus).
- Competence in interpreting electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs (experience with AutoCAD is advantageous).
- Understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), 79, UL508A, and ISA 5.1 regulations.
- Experience with sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, and calibration techniques.
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
- **Experience:** At least 5 years of hands-on experience in process controls engineering or a related field.
- **Licenses:** Valid Driver’s License.
- Occasional tasks may involve lifting up to 40 lbs., climbing stairs, or bending in lab, shop, or field settings.
- Readiness to travel domestically or internationally when required (typically 2 days to 1 week, roughly 20-25% of the time).
- Availability to work extra hours to ensure critical project milestones are met.
