Position Overview:
As the Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical and control systems within our facility. Your expertise in industrial electrical systems, automation controls, and power distribution will be critical in ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. You will lead a team of electricians, providing hands-on support while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electricians and controls technicians to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems (480V, 3-phase power, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, and motor controls) to ensure equipment reliability.
- Maintain and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMI systems, and SCADA interfaces to optimize automated operations.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues, including troubleshooting circuits, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with NEC codes, OSHA regulations, and company electrical safety standards while managing electrical permitting and inspection processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve system performance and implement technology upgrades.
- Provide expertise in low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems, ensuring proper grounding, wiring, and protection strategies.
- Support capital projects by assisting with electrical design, vendor selection, and system commissioning.
- Maintain documentation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system configurations.
- 5 years of experience in an industrial electrical or controls role, preferably in manufacturing, forestry, or heavy industrial environments.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise and develop a high-performing electrical team.
- Extensive experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), motor controls, VFDs, and industrial automation.
- Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation, and control circuits.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, power monitoring, and industrial networking protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving expertise with a creative approach to overcoming technical challenges.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Comfort working variable hours to meet facility demands.
- Willingness to comply with stringent safety protocols and undergo pre-employment screenings.
- Must either hold or be able to obtain an Oregon Supervising Electrician license within one year.
- Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions and adhere to PPE requirements.
