JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a Patient Care Technician whose responsibility is to provide direct nursing activities for patients receiving therapeutic and diagnostic services in the Emergency Department/Fast Track, in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state and local regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Participates in activities that ensure the safe and efficient provision of services to infant, adolescent, and adult patient populations, refers unusual clinical problems to the Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. Duties shall be based on the PCT’s recognized skill level. The position reports to the Director of the Emergency Department.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of coursework from an NLN Accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program to equal a semester in a fundamentals of nursing course, or completion of a Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, Medical Specialist, phlebotomy or related field of advanced study required.
Formal Training: First semester nursing clinical or verified on the job training (OJT) preferred.
Licensure, Certifications & Registration: BLS certification required.
Work Experience: Basic knowledge of the nursing process. Basic computer skills.
