Director of Disability Services

Position Summary
The Director assists in the administration, oversight and evaluation of OPWDD program services including Individual Residential Alternative (IRA) services.
Essential Job Functions
Develops, maintains, evaluates and works to improve all OPWDD programs to ensure high quality, effective and efficient treatment and service delivery. Maintains required records and documentation of services provided.
Participates and advises the Senior Division Director/Vice President in the selection, promotion, assignment, review and discharge of OPWDD program direct care, supervisory and support staff.
Facilitates the process of admission/discharge of consumers for programs supervised.
Participates in overall planning and development of existing and new OPWDD program services and recommends program and facility modification as necessary. Provides input into the development of program budgets.
Supervises OPWDD Program Supervisors as assigned. Monitors, evaluates and participates in the integration and coordination of all division programs. Participates in senior staff meetings and individual supervisory conferences.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree and five (5) years of related experience in the field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prior supervisory experience required.
Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and service delivery preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Exhibit strong ability to read and interpret regulations, communicate verbally and in writing, and extensive knowledge of all matters pertaining to DD compliance issues.
Possess an exemplary degree of initiative, sound judgment, industry and a comprehensive understanding of staff procedures and interdepartmental relationships.
Is culturally competent.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs and lift objects of up to 10lbs as required.
