Purpose Statement
The job of Director of Real World Learning is done for the purpose/s of supporting the Director of College/Career Readiness and Community Partnerships in the development, implementation, and evaluation of real-world learning opportunities for students. This position focuses on assisting in the creation of partnerships with local businesses, industries, and educational institutions, ensuring students gain hands-on experience that connects academic learning with real-world applications. The Director will also provide operational support for various projects, helping to manage logistics and communications with external partners to enhance student readiness for college, careers, and life.
This job reports to Director of College/Career Readiness and Community Partnerships
Essential Functions
- Assists in preparing reports on the impact of real-world learning experiences and recommends improvements for the purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of the Real world Learning experiences.
- Assists in the recruitment and training of staff involved in real-world learning programs for the purpose of ensuring the success of the program.
- Assists in the development and implementation of real-world learning programs (e.g. internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, community projects, etc.) for the purpose of providing students with realwold experiences.
- Creates new and effective partnerships between the district, area businesses, and college-universities for the purpose of strengthening relationships in the community.
- Gathers feedback from students, teachers, and community partners for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating the success of real-world learning initiatives.
- Helps coordinate logistics for real-world learning events, including transportation, scheduling, and communication with external partners for the purpose of ensuring a smooth experience for both students and partners.
- Maintains regular communication with students and parents for the purpose of sharing information about real-world learning opportunities and program requirements.
- Partners with teachers and administrators and provides support where necessary for the purpose of integrating real-world learning opportunities into the curriculum.
- Represents the district in community meetings and events related to career readiness and partnerships for the purpose of strengthening the partnership.
- Supports the fostering of partnerships with local businesses, industries, and educational institutions for the purpose of providing students with authentic learning opportunities.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing a department; directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 35% walking, 35% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
The work environment involves both office-based tasks and direct interaction with students, teachers, and external partners in community settings. The Director should be prepared for occasional travel and participation in events that occur outside of regular school hours.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education (Minimum): Masters degree in job-related area.
