The Role
Liberty Science Center (LSC) seeks an Operations Coordinator for our STEM Education team. The full-time Operations Coordinator provides administrative support to two senior leaders—the Director of STEM Partnerships and Vice President of STEM Education. The Operations Coordinator will help create, implement, and monitor systems and protocols to improve the department’s processes for data management, resource allocation, procurement, and onboarding.
The Operations Coordinator for STEM Education reports to the Vice President of STEM Education and Director of STEM Partnerships and works closely with the STEM Leadership Team. The Coordinator is also expected to be engaged in the border work community and contribute to a positive work culture.

What You’ll Do
The Operations Coordinator for STEM Education will:
- Manage assigned administrative and operational tasks
- Coordinate the onboarding of new STEM Education Department hires
- Support the setup, oversight, and maintenance of STEM Education programming on monday.com to enhance data accuracy in terms of scheduling, resource allocation, attendance, and revenue tracking
- Work closely with the Reservations Team and STEM leadership to ensure program consistency across Tessitura and monday.com
- Create processes and systems to enhance the operations of the STEM Partnerships team, both internally and externally
- Maintain and compile accurate data on STEM Education programming for NJDOE reporting and LSC External Affairs
- Support the planning and implementation of department-led initiatives, including, but not limited to, Community Evenings, Sensory Days, Scout Days, Scout Evenings, the Hudson County STEM Showcase, and educational conferences
- Draft well-written communications for a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Codify team policies and procedures; develop, maintain, and update department documents for onboarding, training, and general protocols, including guidelines, quality and performance, rubrics
- Coordinate with the Marketing team to ensure LSC’s website and STEM Guide language are current and consistent and to request marketing materials for a range of STEM initiatives and events
- Provide support for partners, including but not limited to fielding and responding to inquiries via phone and email in a timely manner, reaching out to the STEM Education team for available dates, confirming bookings, resolving scheduling conflicts, rescheduling canceled programs, planning visits (i.e., scavenger hunts, creating itineraries, creating Event Advisories, etc.), greeting at check-in, and supporting invoicing and collecting payment, closing out Tessitura monthly
- Collaborate with other Liberty Science Center departments to streamline operations and enhance the guest experience
- Actively participate in departmental and organizational initiatives and events
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the department and business

- Technology: Must be proficient in social media, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, project management software, etc

- Project Management: Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish

- Flexibility: Ability to quickly learn and adapt, applying newly acquired skills to different situations
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a STEM-related field
- Commitment to LSC’s mission and values
- 2 years of customer service experience preferred
- 2 years of experience managing projects and people, including complex scheduling
- Proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, including Microsoft and Google Applications
- Proficiency with project management platforms, such as monday.com
- Experience using Canva or other similar desktop publishing software
Classification, Location and Schedule
This role is a full-time, non-exempt position that is eligible for full benefits. The ideal candidate must be available to work on-site at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City from Monday through Friday. This position will also require occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range for this role is $48,000-$53,000. The final offer is commensurate with the candidate’s skills, education, certifications, and experience. In addition to compensation for salary, you will receive compensation in the form of generous benefits, including, but not limited to:

Physical Demands

- Onsite Support: Ability to work in open floor plan environments that can be noisy and also lift
- Physical Activity: Ability to carry up to 25 lbs of equipment or supplies needed to support events or assist in the delivery of programs; must also be able to withstand Intervals of frequent standing, walking, and moving around to provide onsite and offsite support, assist with event setup, and troubleshoot team issues in real-time
- Technology Usage: Ability to work with data sets and assist the team in setting up AV systems for team meetings
- Event Support Flexibility: Available to work occasional mornings, evenings, weekends, and flexible hours to provide support for LSC events, requiring physical presence during setup and breakdown phases
- Multi-Tasking: Ability to stay focused and perform tasks under pressure
- Prolonged Use of Office Equipment: Will need to work sedentary intervals that require the use of standard office equipment such as laptops, keyboards, printers, etc., for extended periods

Occasional travel for conferences and to observe off-site programming will be required. A driver’s license is required.
