Leader Fellow

Being a part of a founding academy leadership team is an ideal position for an educator who possesses the necessary knowledge, skills, and mindsets that will allow our scholars to achieve off-the-chart results. The ideal candidate is especially committed to serving low SES and minority scholars, self-reflective, data-driven, results-oriented, mission-focused, open to and actively seeks constructive feedback, and is tenacious about scholar college & career readiness. LSC educators have a deep passion for instruction and are eager to gain rigorous development to help perfect their craft. In addition to participating in weekly professional development and team planning meetings, all LSC educators receive consistent high-impact coaching and feedback from the network & academy leaders. Our scholars will change the world.

Role Mission: The Leader Fellow role is the first year of a two-year commitment to be developed into a transformational school leaders who desire to change the educational landscape for hundreds of children currently being served by LSC and will be served in a future academy. They are believers and fighters committed to giving children - no matter their socioeconomic background, ethnicity, or neighborhood they reside in - the tools needed to reach their full potential. Together with the school Lead Team, Directors in Residence spend the day ensuring that no matter what, our students are in an environment where they will develop good character, be challenged academically, and succeed on their road to and through college.

This program is unique in that each leader fellow will eventually become part of the core “Lead Team” at one of our academy sites -  working to support teachers, leaders, students, and families every single day while sharing responsibility for critical school achievement goals.

Year One (2025-26 ): Leader Fellows are full-time employees in year one who work seven additional days & who take on additional leadership responsibilities while also participating in the "Leader Fellow 101 Cohort" that will meet once a month as part of their Excellence 104 professional development. Leader fellows can expect to take on three "big projects" under the supervision of the Academy Director & Executive Director, one of which will be the Academy Director's choice. Two of your projects will include: Million Word Reading Challenge, Summer PRIDE, after-school tutoring, talent ambassador hiring, Saturday Enrichment, field trips, Staff of the Year, or priority coaching during your planning/prep.
They are compensated with an additional stipend of $5,000. At the end of year one, leader fellows formally apply to a resident leader position and are either moved to their second year as a resident leader or remain as a leader fellow to require an additional year of training & development.

Year Two (2026-27): Only the Leader Fellows who show the most promise & potential will be elevated to a "resident" position their second year and named to a particular role on a campus leadership team. Resident leaders are compensated on the assistant leader salary scale with the same expectation of participating in additional professional development that will primarily consist of administrative licensure, if applicable, and school visits. They will receive personalized feedback and coaching throughout their residency in preparation to launch and/or lead their own LSC school within one to two years. During the residency year, residents will be assigned an individual mentor externally from the school to co-create the vision for the future academy they will be opening.
