Facilities & Maintenance Technician
Role Mission: Reporting to the campus Operations Manager, the Facilities & Maintenance Technician is a vital member of the operations team working to ensure our facilities are prepared to run high-performing schools. The Facilities & Maintenance Technician will lead on maintenance and custodial responsibilities to ensure these areas meet a high standard of operational excellence and enable instructional leaders and staff to focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes. This is a full-time position.
Accountabilities
Maintenance:
- Survey the building's mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems and report any necessary repairs to the Managing Director of Operations (MDO).
- Coordinate with MDO, custodial staff, and outside vendors to maintain a safe, welcoming, and clean facility.
- Perform essential maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, etc.).
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, broken furniture, etc.).
- Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g., landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, etc.).
- Other facilities and maintenance duties as assigned.
Daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Completing the specified weekly or daily task/checklist provided by your manager (based on the most urgent custodial/maintenance needs for the week).
- Emptying trash cans, vacuuming, wiping window sills, & mopping floors.
- Consistently wiping down high-touch surfaces with disinfectant.
- Thoroughly clean shared student and staff bathrooms.
- Cleaning and disinfecting water fountains.
- Circulating throughout the building and picking up trash, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming spills, etc. to keep the hallways and shared spaces clean.
- Responding as soon as possible to any requests (overflowing toilets, spills, cleaning up after sick kids, etc.).
- Putting away cleaning materials before you leave (mop water is dumped out, all cleaning materials are put back in the maintenance closet).
Weekly tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Spot cleaning walls and windows.
- Cleaning graffiti off of bathroom stalls/walls.
- Mopping specific locations (stage, elevator area, etc.).
- Rinsing out large garbage cans.
- Cleaning teacher workroom (wiping down surfaces, refrigerators, microwaves) and other common spaces.
- Completing an interior and exterior building walkthrough and reporting any cleaning or maintenance issues/needs to MDO.
- Completing and/or coordinating the completion of all necessary maintenance projects in the building.

Qualifications
Education: HS diploma or GED required
Experience:
- 1-2 years related experience in a school setting.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Work independently and as a team member.
Compensation:
Salary range: $29,000-44,000 (commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications).
This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment. Additionally, Liberty STEAM Charter offers a comprehensive benefits package to include health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401k options.
