What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher Facilitator - High School position at Liberty Student Services?
Facilitates communication between the department, administration and teachers. Plans with administration and facilitates efforts to improve student achievement. Collaborates with the Building Leadership Team (BLT) to communicate the Mission and Vision to all Stakeholders. Maintains confidentiality and respects privacy in all aspects of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attend regularly scheduled District and Building Facilitator meetings.
- Facilitate the monthly meetings using the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model.
- Develop monthly meeting agendas.
- Submit completed minutes to colleagues and building administration.
- Facilitate ongoing review, update and alignment of curricula to meet current New York State Learning Standards.
- Provide recommendations as necessary.
- Work in conjunction with building administration and colleagues to plan and organize professional development to meet building needs.
- Support building administration with all aspects of state and local testing, as assigned.
- Interpret and analyze all local and state test data.
- Report findings to both department and building level administration.
- Promote a positive school climate through problem solving and shared decision making.
- Provide evidence to support departmental / grade level budgetary requests that are aligned and support District goals.
- Assist colleagues with the dissemination of departmental information, communicating with parents, and hosting parent meetings, when necessary.
- Assign case managers and regularly update caseload lists. Communicate caseload responsibilities.
- Assist and facilitate scheduling of Annual Review meetings and communicate responsibilities of preparing for annual reviews.
- Remind teachers and related service providers to complete progress notes. Review progress notes, mail them to parents, send a copy to student services.
- Collaborate with related service providers and assist in ensuring appropriate provision of services.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
