JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Representative is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This position will oversee all safety-related activities, ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. The Safety Representative will work closely with all levels of site leadership and employees to promote a culture of safety and achieve key safety objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Provide leadership and direction for workforce safety management, ensuring proper training and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, including maintaining proper documentation and reporting.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting collaboration and proactive problem-solving.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
- Collaborate with site leadership to integrate safety into operational strategies and initiatives.
- Maintain records of all safety activities and ensure proper data entry into the management system.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication proficiency (spoken and written) at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting work priorities to ensure resources focus on the highest value work.
- Must know OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- Flexibility in the face of change.
- High level of comfort on the plant floor.
- Ability to foster an environment of teamwork.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two year degree in Safety or equivalent combination of education and related industry experience required.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
- Minimum of two years of working with direct OSHA knowledge
- Experience handling safety programs in a plant or industrial setting preferred.
- AED certification
- CPR Certification
