Job Summary:
Liberty Tire Recycling is looking for a Trailer Mechanic. As a trailer mechanic, you would be responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs to the company trailers and/or other equipment as deem necessary. Duties may range from minor safety or lighting repairs to rebuilding a trailer. Your expertise will ensure the efficiency and safety of our operations, contributing to our commitment to high standards and effective recycling processes at our Port Saint Lucie, FL. facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and repair mechanical defects ensuring safety and maintenance compliance with DOT standards.
- Conduct and document DOT inspections and repairs for various customers.
- Prepare material lists for necessary repairs, outlining all needed repairs.
- Expertly handle electrical, brake systems, suspensions, landing gears, lift gates, and PM inspections.
- Perform T1 inspections on trailers, which includes troubleshooting, minor repairs, welding, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Diagnose and repair trailer, hitching, and vehicle electrical problems, and perform routine maintenance on trailers, hitches, and vehicles.
Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a certified or licensed mechanic specializing in trailers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient knowledge of vehicle systems, including hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle diagnostic equipment.
- Exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Physical strength, manual dexterity, and extensive experience with hand tools are required.
Education and Experience:
- Prior experience in the tire recycling or manufacturing industry is a plus.
Compensation:
- $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience. Paid bi-weekly.
