What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accessibility Services Advisor position at Liberty University?
The Accessibility Services Advisor reports to the Accessibility Services Coordinator. The principal functions / contributions are : arranging non-academic accommodations for residential and online students with disabilities; monitoring the Osborne Learning Center Lab; and supporting accessibility initiatives for the university.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Brings students with disabilities on file (initial contact email / phone call; verifying disability documentation). (20%)
- Meets with students and parents to discuss accommodations. (25%)
- Sends Non-academic Accommodation Request Notice emails to Residence Life Housing and the Dining Accommodation Committee AND manage correspondence between ODAS, Housing / Dining, and students until accommodation determination is made (40%)
- Monitors submissions of forms. (5%)
- Executes other tasks as requested by the Accessibility Services Coordinator and ODAS leadership (10%)
- Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the LU and ODAS missions
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum qualifications : Four year degree in education / psychology or some other disability related field. Two (2) years' experience working in a human service or disability-related academic or clinical setting. Computer experience in Microsoft Office; ability to multi-task; interact with others positively; ability to work well under pressure / stress; good communication skills; previous office experience.
Preferred qualifications : Master's degree in education / counseling or some other disability related field.

Driving Requirements
Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
