The Director of Administrative Operations is responsible for overseeing all scheduling and facility reservations, marketing efforts and promotion, departmental finance and assessment, and student staff development programs for Campus Recreation. This includes the following facilities and the associated programs: LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center, Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center, Liberty Mountain Gun Club, Liberty Mountain Hydaway Outdoor Recreation Center, Montview Game Room, Montview Bowling Alley, David’s Place, and the Liberty Mountain Intramural Complex. This position is responsible for leading professional, part-time, and student employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direction and vision for Campus Recreation communications, marketing, finance and assessment that support the university mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Provide direct oversight of the Associate Director of Marketing, Associate Director of Communications & Personnel, and Associate Director of Finance and Assessment including hiring, training, developing, and evaluating.
- Provide leadership for all communications, indirectly assisting in the oversight of professional, part-time and student employees through monitoring, hiring, training, development, disciplinary actions, evaluations and terminations.
- Create and maintain up to date policies and procedures regarding communications, marketing, scheduling, finance, assessment, and student development that comply with university policy.
- Oversee and manage departmental communications and marketing projects, including the creation and implementation of an annual marketing plan, scheduling for all necessary Campus Recreation facilities, budgetary assistance and direction, direct coordination of departmental student development programs, and all master, programming, and marketing calendars.
- Create and submit monthly and biannual communications and marketing reports and evaluations through facility reservation data, web analytics, social media data, and outreach impact numbers.
- Act as a point of contact for all internal and external communications that support marketing, facility reservations, general inboxes, and any budgetary concerns.
- Act as a point of contact for all Directors for communications, marketing, finance and assessment.
- Make purchases and recommendations for departmental assets or expenses.
- Frequently oversee and assist with events or operations during evening, nights, or weekend hours.
- Remain up to date on industry standards and performance benchmarks and ensure that Campus Recreation communications, marketing, finance, assessment, and student development programs remain effective and current.
- Perform all other tasks assigned by the Senior Director of Campus Recreation.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is responsible for approximately 10 full time employees, approximately 2 part-time employees, and up to 15 student employees.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year degree from an accredited university
- 5 years’ professional experience
- Experience leading a team
- Marketing Experience
- Finance Experience
- Communications Experience
- Project management experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned or progress towards a graduate level degree
- Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
- Experience utilizing a scheduling application, such as 25Live
- Experience in web design and editing
- Experience in graphic design, specifically working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
