Supports construction projects by providing skilled labor for a variety of construction trades.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must have a basic understanding of electricity, gas, and water systems of some plumbing investigation.
- Ability to investigate and diagnose common problems (e.g., power issues, gas leaks, water pressure problems, or plumbing leaks).
- Ability to identify and detect simple problems.
- Use basic tools to find water leaks and report them for repair.
- Assist the Utilities Coordinator as needed.
- Follows blueprints and building plans to meet assigned work.
- Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding.
- Performs general construction.
- Construction and repairing building frameworks and structures, such as stairways, door frames, partitions, and rafters, made from wood, steel, and other raw materials.
- Installation of all types of flooring, tile, carpet, wood, engineered, etc.
- Assists with demolition associated with Construction projects.
- Operating hand and woodworking tools.
- Operation of lifts and construction equipment.
- Maintains the overall aesthetics / cosmetic appearance of facilities and equipment.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs work in a safe and efficient manner under the company's safety and quality programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Office administration duties as assigned.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers and oversee onsite subcontractors.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is an indoor / outdoor setting and is defined by the weather. It involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment. Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and / or loud noises.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
