ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Administrative Assistant supports the Helms School of Government under the direction of the Dean and Director of Operations.
- Serves as a representative of the Director of Operations and is empowered to speak to issues as deemed necessary by the Director of Operations.
- 1st contact for students and internships
- Travel arrangements for guests (hotel and rental car)
- Event Coordinator
- CFAW and M/F Prospective Student Events
- Dean Hurt Assistant Scheduler
- Student workers administration
- Faculty Meetings and Minutes
- Buy-LU – purchasing of supplies
- Assistant p-card reconciler
- Main custodian for HSOG Email
- Social Media Coordinator
- Lead Team Student Travel booking (outbound travel)
- Lead Classroom/professor led Travel booking (outbound travel)
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
- Other responsibilities as required

The Administrative Assistant will communicate with all potential students who call the department as well as guests of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree
At least two years administrative experience is preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and Canvas
Institutional knowledge of Liberty University and its systems
Experience in managing multiple tasks and projects

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information
Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well-lighted, and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
