The ODAS Administrative Assistant reports to the Operations Coordinator and the Executive Director of the Office of Disability Accommodation Support (ODAS.) and supports the ODAS in a variety of administrative capacities: 1) Front Desk Duties, 2) Facilities/Resource Management, 3) Departmental Support.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Front Desk Duties: Operate the ODAS front desk, greeting guests and interacting positively and professionally with all who enter the office. Answer phone calls for ODAS main line, and keep abreast of office procedures in order to answer caller questions. Supervise front desk student workers. Manage swiper check-in at the front desk. (60%)
  • Facilities/Resource Management: Monitor office and general supplies for department and report needs to Operations Coordinator, submit work orders for office maintenance, printer, and IT issues, as well as badge and key access. Perform other administrative tasks assigned by the Operations Coordinator. (25%)
  • Departmental Support: Assist ODAS staff with other duties as assigned. Assist staff with preparation and implementation of ODAS events and programs. Interact with students and manage swiper at programs/events. Some evenings and weekends may be required. (15%)
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.

Qualifications And Credentials

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate; computer experience in Microsoft Office and other technology skills; ability to multi-task; interact positively with others; ability to work well under stress/pressure; and good communication skills.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent purchasing systems and computer skills.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
