LYR is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Director of Social Services to lead our new expansion and management of our social service programs. This individual will provide senior leadership to ensure services align with our mission, annual licensure inspections, and the highest quality of care to children and families.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Director of Social Services will oversee all day-to-day implementation and evaluation of social service programs. This individual will supervise Social Workers, Houseparents, Counselors, Tutors, Interns, and Volunteers while building relationships with external partners. Additionally, the Director will ensure compliance with all state licensing and regulatory requirements, develop innovative therapeutic initiatives, and advance a positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Management & Leadership:
- Oversee all social service programs and policies, ensuring quality standards of care and alignment with LYR’s mission.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and provide professional development for Social Workers, Houseparents, Counselors, and Volunteers.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of social service staff.
- Maintain a positive, community-oriented culture among staff and volunteers.
- Participate in strategic planning with the leadership team to further LYR’s mission.
Program Development & Delivery:
- Design, oversee, and evaluate therapeutic and educational programs for children and families.
- Develop outcome measurement systems to track the effectiveness of social services.
- Maintain professional relationships with all regulatory agencies.
Community Outreach & Engagement:
- Represent the organization at community events, public speaking engagements, and stakeholder activities.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with public/charter/private schools, churches, governmental welfare agencies, civic organizations, and other service providers.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing, HIPAA, and child welfare regulations.
- Coordinate and prepare for annual audits and licensing inspections.
Emergency Management:
- Develop and implement emergency response protocols, ensuring staff are trained and prepared.
- Main point of contact and available on-call to address urgent matters and provide direct support during natural disasters and emergency situations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Family and Marriage, Psychology, or a related field.
- Licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, or equivalent required.
Experience:
- 5 years in leadership of social services, preferably in residential or foster care.
- In-depth background with trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices.
- Familiarity with nonprofit and Christian organizations is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Exceptional self-driven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an unpredictable environment and manage multiple priorities and urgent situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Devices, and other relevant software.
