Purpose
Position primary responsibilities are customer service field activities and distribution systems and facilities as applicable. Dual Responsible for performing construction and maintenance activities on transmission and distribution systems and facilities as applicable. Performs such work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures. This position will work alongside a both Distribution Tech and Field Tech 2 to learn and perform activities for both Distribution Tech and Field Tech 2.
Accountabilities
Utility Tech Responsibilities:
- Performs Reads & Re-read order of residential, commercial and industrial gas meters.
- Records readings for billing purposes.
- Observes and reports all abnormal, dangerous and/or damaged conditions pertaining to gas meters and adjacent areas.
- Disconnects, Paint Meters, Service and Construction Helper, Atmospheric Corrosion Survey & remedial action.
- Complete all safety related training, Change Index and meter glass, Complete electronic orders & Locate Damage Prevention.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ALL Apprentice Field Tech responsibilities:
- Installing, Maintaining, Replacing and Remove meters and regulators.
- Residential and small commercial service activation.
- Replacing service valves, Minor appliance repair and adjustments.
Accountabilities Continued
Distribution Tech 1 Responsibilities:
- Must have CDL, Plastic fusion, Competent Person Certification, Line Locate.
- Leak Investigation and repair.
- Construction Order completion.
- Proficient at operating excavating equipment.
- Perform Critical Valve Inspection.
- required to operate and maintain heavy and/or specialized equipment.
- Review job site maps for all utility lines. Ensures placement of utility markings at job site.
- Complete all safety related training.
- On call May be required to hold Stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call-outs and occasional extensive hours. Is subject to reporting outside of regular work area.
- Replacing service valves.
