JOB DESCRIPTION
The Flexible Services Teacher (“Flex Teacher”) works within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to coordinate and provide tailored supportive services in the areas of academic, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and/or social emotional skills development to identified students across the 8-period school day. The Flex Teacher will collaborate with members of the LST and SST/SRT to craft a Tier 3 service plan (i.e, Flex Plan) that targets explicit skill areas for remediation and growth, and will develop a meeting plan with that student to provide explicit instruction or to guide them in accessing school resources from Tier 1 or Tier 2 resource(s) appropriately. The Flex Teacher will also meet with students in Return-to-Learn protocols and develop a plan with that student and their educational team to help them re-acclimate into the school setting and their course expectations. The Flex Teacher will monitor student progress in their Flex Plan goal area(s), will adjust intervention design as necessary to adapt with student needs, and will communicate progress on goals, appointments, and potential future needs (including IEP or 504 Plan development) as the student exits Flex Services with other educational team members and caregivers.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and manage a flexible schedule for student support
Collaborate with the Student Needs Specialist, Student Services, MTSS Committee and Special Services leadership as relevant on student progress and continued planning for supports, or on general Flex intervention design and effectiveness
Facilitate the connection of students to relevant and appropriate academic and social emotional supports within the building
Develop an attendance/participation plan with each student based on their needs to allow flexible schedule management
Communicate with the student's educational team, including caregivers, to gather progress updates or share updates in a routine manner as appropriate for the student’s Flex plan implementation
Communicate openly, positively, and constructively with all education team members and colleagues, staying student-centered and adhering to the guiding principles of LRE and FAPE
Engage in professional learning that develops a deep repertoire of learning, social emotional and behavioral strategies, skills and tools that can be explicitly taught with students as appropriate
CHILD FIND & PRE-REFERRAL INTERVENTION
Collaborate with the Child Find team, including members of the Learning Support Team to develop Flex Service Plans that identify targeted areas for support and growth based on Tier 1 & Tier 2 progress reporting
Implement and progress monitor effectiveness of services as outlined in each student’s Flex Service Plan in collaboration with each student’s educational team
Observe students in classroom settings when needed as part of the referral process
Collaborate with relevant educational staff and classroom teachers on Tier 1 differentiated learning strategies and accessibility strategies
RETURN-TO-LEARN STUDENT SUPPORT PLANNING
Participate in re-entry meetings when appropriate to collaborate in the development of a supportive return-to-learn plan
Participate in the implementation of return-to-learn plans and services with student, LST or IEP team, and caregivers when Flex services are included to support student's return to the school building, classes, and to address coursework/assessment completion and submission
Communicate with the student's educational team, including all classroom teachers, to gather progress updates or share updates to support the student when necessary
IEP or 504 PLAN DEVELOPMENT
Collaborate in the development of the initial IEP or 504 document as necessary, including participating in the eligibility and IEP/504 meeting
Communicate student progress and potential special education and/or related service needs with the Special Services Department Co-chairs to ensure readiness of service delivery and supplemental aides
Communicate with the student's school counselor (504) or case manager (IEP) on student’s history and progress as they transition into an educational plan
