Description :
The Special Collections and Engagement Librarian at The Latin American Library (LAL) combines subject expertise, knowledge of archival standards, and familiarity with digital initiatives to process and provide access to collections in Latin American, Caribbean and Diasporic Studies. This position works closely and shares duties with a team of LAL librarians. In collaboration with the Curator of Special Collections, they participate in all phases of processing the LAL's wide range of primary sources in many formats, including accessioning, arranging, describing, cataloging, and preservation. With LAL librarians, they create online exhibits and publications, develop the LAL's online presence, engage in presentations, instructional sessions, and contribute to other outreach activities. This position serves on library committees, collaborates and coordinates activities with other Tulane Libraries units, and actively participates in national and international professional and scholarly associations. This position reports to the Director of the LAL. This position must be applied for within Interfolio only.
Qualifications :
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent and a degree in any field of Latin American studies; OR advanced degree in any field of Latin American studies and familiarity with the operations of an academic library;
- Command of English and Spanish, spoken and written;
- Advanced knowledge of the history, politics, economics, literatures and cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean;
