JOB SUMMARY
LS&S and the Osceola County Library System in Florida is seeking an energetic and motivated full-time Adult Services Specialist for the West Osceola branch. This is a perfect position for someone with a library background who is looking for new and innovative ways to support personal enrichment, professional development, community engagement, tech skills, and creative expression in our adult population.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
- Creating and delivering engaging and innovative events and classes for Adult patrons.
- Providing Reference, Research and Referral services and community information to patrons and staff.
- Delivering technology assistance in a group setting or one-on-one either in a class format or on demand.
- Contributing to the Adult Services team by supporting system-wide events, attending meetings, collaborating and sharing ideas, and offering support.
- Supporting the development of a successful Adult Summer program.
- Recommending reading and learning materials to patrons of all ages.
- Documenting statistics and preparing reports about Adult Services at the assigned branch.
- Representing the Library in community partnerships, outreaches and innovative service opportunities.
- Assisting with daily Library operations as needed.
- Developing promotion requests, graphics tickets, calendar entries and other support tasks.
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education,
training and/or work experience required.
- H.S. Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred; will accept a combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of community needs and interests.
- Aptitude for Research or Reference skills and knowledge of Library services and Information resources.
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to engage both in-person and virtually, in the library and the community.
- Customer service experience.
- Excellent technology skills, including familiarity with the Internet, Microsoft products, and various electronic resources and devices, such as phones and tablets.
- Self-starter/self-motivated, organized, creative.
- Working a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings and weekends is required.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to think strategically and collaboratively.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasionally up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
- Ability to sit for long periods and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
