LAPP is a non-profit community behavioral health center, has been providing quality behavioral healthcare to adults and adolescents for more than 56 years and seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals living with mental health issues and substance use disorders. Over the years the agency has developed a significant number of new and innovative programs in the community including, but not limited to, the Step One Program at the Licking County Justice Center, the Options 72 Hour Driver Intervention Program, a comprehensive gender-specific women's program that was the first in the county, some of the first treatment programs in the county, an intensive outpatient program, employee assistance programs (EAP), Department of Transportation services, drug-free workplace programs and training for other organizations, the first youth treatment program in the county and other similar services.

Your day as a Community Outreach and Addiction Team (CO-ART) Clinician

As a Community Outreach and Addiction Team (CO-ART) Clinician, you will engage directly with individuals at risk of substance abuse in a community-based environment. Your responsibilities will include identifying potential clients, conducting brief mental health and alcohol and drug screenings, and providing crucial crisis interventions. You'll make tailored recommendations for care and connect clients with essential services, spanning a diverse population. This position allows you to educate the community about addiction while fostering vital connections to treatment.

Working primarily in high-risk areas, you'll build rapport and help overcome barriers to accessing care. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to conduct community presentations and collaborate with local organizations to raise awareness and support recovery efforts, making a meaningful impact in the lives of those you serve.

Additionally, you will :

  • Manage and complete referrals to LAPP, hospitals, counseling / treatment agencies, community support providers, and other specialized services.
  • Give input from a person-center perspective into the CO-ART program and procedures affecting treatment of clients, with the aim of reducing or eliminating re-traumatizing clients, providing choice, respect, and consideration for clients and their recovery.
  • Assess and appraise risk from both clinical and administrative perspectives, and schedules outpatient services as needed.
  • Assess potentially dangerous situations and take appropriate precautionary measures to ensure client / worker safety.
  • Visit community centers, shelters, schools, and other high-risk locations to identify individuals potentially struggling with addiction.
  • Perform appropriate clinical interventions and / or brief treatment around well-defined issues that can be dealt with in a specific time frame. Service may be required to be rendered at any site in the community. Respond to immediate situations requiring crisis support or intervention when available.

Would you be a great Community Outreach and Addiction Team (CO-ART) Clinician?

To thrive as a CO-ART, candidates must possess a robust set of skills and qualifications. A minimum of an LCDCII or LSW, along with two years of experience in the substance use field, is essential. An associate's degree in social work or counseling is required, with a Bachelor's or Master's preferred, and candidates must be licensed to practice in Ohio. Candidates will need knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental, emotional, or substance use and addiction problems, including use of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and / or other drugs , along with training in Trauma-Informed Care.

Additional requirements for the position are :

  • Proof of valid Driver's License and state minimum required personal auto insurance policy with acceptable driving record for company vehicle coverage.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software such as Zoom, Outlook email, and electronic health records system.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Cultural competency, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
