Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Utility Service Worker. This role is responsible for performing various tasks related to the daily operations and maintenance of water distribution systems, sewer collection systems, and water and wastewater treatment plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain water and/or wastewater treatment equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Assist with repairs on treatment equipment, including changing oil, greasing motors, pumps, chains, etc.
- Operate and maintain water distribution and wastewater systems, including pumps, compressors, electrical controls, lines, valves, etc.
- Respond to emergency situations related to treatment, collection, or distribution operations.
- Collect water and/or wastewater samples for analysis.
- Perform preventative and service maintenance and repair on departmental vehicles.
- Complete general housekeeping tasks to maintain facilities, including cleaning, painting, and maintaining grounds.
Requirements
- One year certificate from college or technical school, and one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brakes.
- Physical mobility, lifting, and exposure to hazardous conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ohio EPA Class I Water and Class I Wastewater Certificates.
- Knowledge of basic Water & Wastewater testing.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular and predictable attendance, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional weekends, holidays, and on-call situations.
