Position Summary
Responsible for supervising all maintenance, construction and remodeling activities. Ensures proper maintenance of buildings including plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, painting and ensures testing and calibration of all related equipment. Assumes additional responsibility as directed in the absence of the Director of Facilities or Manager.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and direct maintenance personnel engaged in repair of building systems and equipment including plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, carpentry, painting and machine repair.
- Direct preventative maintenance and electrical safety checks on all non-clinical equipment.
- Monitors records of maintenance, preventative maintenance and electrical safety checks of all non-clinical equipment.
- Provides regular updates to customers regarding the status and estimated completion dates of customers' projects.
- Communicate with vendors regarding purchases of supplies and equipment and uses information to maintain proper inventory of supplies and materials.
- Regularly inspect and evaluate work sites of maintenance and construction activities to ensure duties are being performed in accordance with all applicable building codes and regulations.
- Prepare required reports for management in the utilization of maintenance personnel, equipment, material and supplies.
- Communicate and maintain an effective working relationship with all departments.
- Interview, select, orient and train.
- Participate in development of unit policies and procedures as well as operating and capital expense budgets. Upon approval, administer and monitor adherence to same.
- Establish department objectives and periodically review progress with the Director of Facilities Management.
- Participate in developing recommendations regarding replacement of existing equipment and purchase of new equipment.
- Review work priorities and progress with Director of Facilities Management.
- Conduct department meetings routinely to communicate and review project and maintenance work order status, etc.
- Establish and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Conduct periodic in-services for new equipment.
- Provide back-up supervision to the Plant Operations staff in the absence of the Director of Plant Operations.
- Keep current on relevant codes pertaining to maintenance of buildings and equipment.
