Liebenzell Mission began in 1899 as the German branch of Hudson Taylor’s China Inland Mission. Settled in the Black Forest region of Germany, missionaries were sent to inland China’s Hunan province. Then in 1941 their missionaries had to leave war torn China but could not return to Germany under the Third Reich.
Having connections with German immigrants in northern New Jersey they found an old grand home on Schooley’s Mountain which became Mission Home Ebenezer. This was the establishment of Liebenzell Mission of USA (LMUSA.)
The work and outreach of LMUSA has grown to include the Guest House Ebenezer, a retreat center, a farm in addition to its worldwide Global Missions.
The Director of Business Administration will be the leader of the support administration areas of financial services, business affairs services and human resources for all aspects of LMUSA’s outreach ministries. Though small, LMUSA in coordination with Liebenzell Mission International provides a mission family experience for worldwide missionaries and retreat guests.

- Displays an even temper and relates well with superiors, equals and subordinates
- Exercises discretion and discernment in personnel and financial matters
- Is able to lead and work in a team
Desired Qualifications:
· BA in business administration and five years in business and financial operations and management
· Training and experience with financial accounting procedures and practices and reporting
· Skilled in QuickBooks accounting software
· Experience relating to government and contracting services
· Familiarity with human resources administration
· Experience in or capability to quickly learn the many facets of non-profit missionary and retreat ministries
· Ability to learn all aspects of LMUSA business operations while using the expertise of Headquarters staff to make things work
· Heart that can focus on the well- being of HQ staff and faithfully support them in their work and in their family and spiritual lives
· Skilled at recognizing potential personal conflicts and in resolving them in a grace-filled manner

WORK SCHEDULE:
An exempt, full-time position
PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF JOB:
· Provides, in partnership with the other directors, the spiritual leadership of Liebenzell Mission
of USA
· Responsible for the business and financial affairs of Liebenzell Mission, including all personnel compensation, purchasing and those items common to all departments (e.g., accounting, donations, and investments)
· Provide spiritual and strategic direction with the other directors for the overall ministry of Liebenzell Mission; encourage a spirit of dependence upon God in prayer among staff and members of the Board.
· Serves as a consulting member on the Board, acts as Board contact person, participates in Executive Committee meetings

RELATIONSHIPS:
· Accountable to the Treasurer and the Business Administration Committee
· Collaborates with directors of Global and Retreat Ministries, on objectives, issues and projects of common interest and concern
· Serves on Directors’ Committee, and Business Administration Committee
· Oversees HQ staff: business affairs manager, financial manager and human relations manager and other HQ staff
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Leadership:

5. Participate in staff and supervisor prayer, vision and coordination meetings as established by LM policies
Financial:
- Develop and ensure compliance with proper accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Assist auditors with annual review or audit
- Pay HQ bills, particularly payment of federal, state, sales and property tax payments
- Develop Liebenzell’s budget; establish budget procedures; assist other directors in budget development and compliance
- Report regularly on financial status and trends to ministry directors and Board committees
- Act as authorized person in bank matters: check signing, online banking, large transfers
- Administer appropriations of large contributions and designated funds
- Assist Liebenzell board and finance committee manage investments to maximize returns and protect funds
Government/Associations Coordination:
- Maintain membership and compliance with professional organizations ECFA, IFMA, CCCA
- Act as contact person in corporate legal matters
- Assure compliance with New Jersey State filing requirements: business registration, annual filing, boarding house, life hazard use registration, new hires registration
- Act as liaison with government agencies to resolve issues, e.g. IRS, Medicare, other
- Maintain and keep current New Jersey sales tax exemption status
- Assure compliance with Federal filing requirements: funds sent overseas, IRS (Form 990, 990-T) solicitation registration, other
Corporation/Property:
- Maintain and keep current Liebenzell’s incorporation documents and non-profit 501(c)(3) status
- Maintain and keep current property tax exemption, and farmland tax assessment status with Washington Township
- Review lease contracts with FAA, farmer and other entities leasing Liebenzell’s facilities
- Ensure adequate and up-to-date property, liability and vehicle insurance coverage
General Business/Office:
- Work with Office manager to oversee general office filing system and record keeping/storage
- Develop and ensure compliance with approved general management policies and procedures.
- Approve the purchase and/or leasing of HQ office equipment and supplies
- Maintain office computers, network and software (accounting, receipting) compatibility
- Maintain telephone network and services, incl. internet services
Personnel:
- Manage administrative support staff
- Maintain compliance with workman's compensation insurance requirement (domestic and foreign). Act as contact person with regard to accident reporting and follow-up
- Work with Payroll Dept. to approve the process of biweekly and monthly payroll
- Make related tax filings (941, W-2, 1099, etc.)
- Work alongside Human Resources to advise and help develop and maintain a personnel manual
- Administer employee benefits programs, e.g. health, pension, life insurance
- Conduct required BA staff evaluations and document any disciplinary actions
Servanthood:
- Willing to assist with general office duties, telephone, mail pickup, as needed
