What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Staff position at Life Academy?
Life Academy in Roanoke, VA is looking to hire individuals to assist with our Summer Camp Program. We are located on 7422 Deer Branch Road, off of Peters Creek Road. Life Academy is a well-established Christian Daycare offering care from 6 weeks to 5th grade.
Our ideal candidate is energetic, a self-starter, motivated, and reliable. Applicants with previous work experience with children, and are willing to meet the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs of children, have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are asked to apply.
Summer Camp consists of being available to care for children from K-5th grade for a 10 hour shift 4 days per week ranging from 7am-6pm. You will work with a team of staff members including the After School coordinator who will be directing the summer camp program. We have FUN, we go outside every day, take field trips 3-4 days/week, play, engage with students, and challenge them to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.
Communicating with patience and understanding with both students and their parents is critical to developing positive relationships. Young adults who can mentor and provide a positive role model to our children is who we are seeking as their leaders.
We have around 50 children enrolled and operate in two-three groups of 15-20 children. Staff must be over 21 to drive our vans and pass a driver screening along with background checks and training. This position could be summer only, or could continue into the fall working part time with our after school students.
