Job Description

Position Summary:

The Summer Kitchen Staff is a positive team player who supports our mission to build resilience through outdoor adventure by planning and preparing meals for campers and participants.

Job duties and responsibilities:

· Plans meals to ensure a well-balanced diet using both purchased and donated resources

· Purchases food and supplies within the guidelines established within the financial policies of Life Adventure Center.

· Prepare well balanced and healthy meals and snacks. Prepare meals that are sensitive to special diets as necessary. (i.e. vegan, vegetarian, and food allergies.)

· Maintain food and cleaning supplies inventory

· Responsible for the daily cleaning of designated areas

· Weekly deep clean of designated areas

· Makes self-aware of and follow guidelines of licensing and regulation, COA, and other state and federal guidelines as pertains to the operational policies of Life Adventure Center including emergency procedures.

Expectations:

· Work hours will 3–4-hour shifts centered around lunch hours, typically 10:30 am-1:30 pm

· Applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods

· Applicant must be competent in the area of food preparation, menu planning and nutrition.

· Applicant must be able to operate general cooking and cleaning equipment.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Strong ability to connect with trauma affected populations

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Willingness to learn and eager to engage in trauma affected populations

· Driver’s License

· Food Handlers License encouraged

· Must complete pre-hire background check and drug screening

Position Reports and will be evaluated by:

· Operations Director

Compensation:

· $15.00-$16.00 per hour based on experience

Job Type: Seasonal

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

• Day shift
