Key Responsibilities
- Perform and complete all repairs and maintenance for existing café assets, personally handling every repair from start to finish.
- Manage relationships with key equipment and facilities vendors, including annual quality control visits with primary vendors, rate negotiations, and scope of work
- Be on premise for all calls to verify efficiency of third-party contractor and that time is being billed accurately
- Actively participate in remodels/refurbishment of existing restaurant assets from implementation through completion
- Manage furnitures, fixtures, and equipment purchasing and installation, as needed
- Collaborate with the Director on all new equipment rollout initiatives for existing cafes
- Collaborate with restaurant leadership on trash, recycling, and compost programs
- Manage physical installation of security items (locks; cameras; lockers)
- Be fluent in and assist training in the compilation and maintenance of equipment reference guides
- Assist with fixed asset tracking for financial record keeping
- Execute the preventative maintenance strategy, processes, and contracts,
- Forecast and manage the facilities budgets utilizing site surveys and restaurant operations feedback
- Investigate, assess, and implement facilities management cost reduction strategies
- Regular check-ins with restaurant leadership to discuss ongoing, emergent, and upcoming issues
- Experience working with restaurant equipment; steamers, ovens, dish machines, refrigerators, and coffee equipment.
- A collaborative and communicative team player, with comfort operating through ambiguity and a strong belief in guest service and hospitality
- Passionate about finding solutions that drive planetary wellness and long-term profitability
- A strong project manager, able to work across a diverse group of stakeholders to get things done
- A strong mechanical and kitchen equipment background is preferred
- Flexible and willing to work a varying schedule according to needs of business and/or requirements of the role. Working hours may be unconventional due to cafe openings and emergencies, including required travel as needed. Must be reachable 24/7 for emergencies
- 4-6 years of related work experience, preferably in the restaurant / food service industry
- Experience working with coffee equipment
- Working knowledge of service and maintenance costs
- Knowledge of rules and regulations governing facilities safety requirements
- Knowledge of FFE purchasing on a national level preferred
- Experience with sustainability / green facilities management preferred
- Working knowledge of and comfort with facilities management software
- Working knowledge of and comfort with Microsoft Excel required
- Certification in facilities management through International Facilities Management Association or other organization preferred
- Repair Tech experience preferred (mechanical and kitchen equipment)
- Construction experience preferred
