Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY :
Oversee and direct all food production, food presentation, and all back-of-the-house activity. Expected to meet or exceed community food service standards at all times, adhering to budgetary requirements and managing kitchen operations in a cost effective manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1. Supervise employees in the Kitchen.
2. Plan, staff, organize and coordinate the preparation of all meals in all levels of care.
3. Plan menus and menu cycles according to cultural and regional food preferences, and resident dietary guidelines. Adjusts recipes to appropriate yield.
4. Monitor the quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food, and implements changes to ensure quality according to established standards.
5. Ensure compliance with Resident dietary restrictions.
6. Walk dining room each night to ensure resident satisfaction and feedback.
7. Observe workers engaged in preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure that methods of cooking and garnishing and sizes of portions are as prescribed.
8. Give instructions to cooking staff in fine points of cooking.
9. Cook and carve meats, and prepare dishes.
10. Receive and validate all food deliveries against order form.
11. Inventory food items monthly.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION :
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in culinary arts preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Chef / Kitchen Manager in a food service environment
- One year of hospitality or senior living / housing industry preferred
- One year of hospital / healthcare preferred

Payrate : $25 / hr
