Overall Responsibilities
The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for the Elementary Music Teacher at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of this teacher at Life Christian Academy is to teach students to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs.
Principle Responsibilities
- Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students
- Teach age-appropriate musical concepts and skills to students Kindergarten – 5th Grade
- Teach music theory and techniques
- Adherence to the faculty and staff professional dress code as determined by the school administration
- Lead worship component of the Elementary Chapel ensuring attention and engagement and assisting in maintaining a positive culture
- Enforce all school policies and processes, including dress policy, mobile phone policy, behavior expectations
- Attend morning staff devotions typically 7:50am to 8:05am once per week
- Articulate in writing and speaking how the teacher’s Christian faith integrates with his or her teaching
- Instructional planning and leading music class instruction
- Plan and use a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students
- Select in advance the means of assessment to measure students’ learning
- Use class time well with activities that engage students’ attention and demonstrate a clear purpose
- Give clear directions and well-organized examples and explanations
- Complete paperwork including academic progress reports, report cards four times per year, complete inventories of classroom equipment/supplies/books, records of attendance, administration of achievement tests, end of year debriefing evaluation forms
- Knowledge of researched best practices to support student achievement
- Plan and organize twice yearly student events including but not limited to Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, and Graduation Programs for K-5 students.
- In relation to students, the teacher is expected to:

- Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior
- Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling, and role modeling,
- Maintain proper classroom discipline, taking care of minor problems personally and referring major problems to the principal
- Meeting regularly with assigned mentor teacher
- Other duties as assigned

- Observe the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary
- Participate in Professional Learning Community efforts
- In Community relations the teacher is expected to:
- Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community
- Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus
- Reflect a positive view of Life Center/Life Christian in interaction with the local community, social media, etc.
