TITLE: Permanent Substitute Teacher (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)
STAFF LEVEL: Support Staff
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part Time, 10 month
Overall Responsibilities
The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for the permanent substitute teacher at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of sub staff is to supervise and serve in various programs to allow each student to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs. As the permanent substitute, you would be the first staff member scheduled in the building to cover the needs of absent classroom teachers. This particular role is for Tu-Th only.
Principle Responsibilities
- Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness
- Assist teachers in classrooms as needed
- Supervise children or students during lunch and recess time (as needed)
- Create a fun and safe atmosphere during times with children
- Work with before and after school care as needed
- Communicate well with teachers and director about any issues or needs with children
- Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students
- Complete paperwork including but not limited to records of attendance
- Participate in benchmark testing processes
- In relating with students, the staff expected to:
- Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior
- Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling, and role modeling,
- Maintain recess and lunch discipline, taking care of minor problems personally and referring major problems to the principal
- In professional growth the teacher is expect to:
- Take responsibility for all tasks related to the classroom, parent communication, and the broader school community
- Work constructively with colleagues and administration by contributing ideas and listening to the ideas of others
- Observe Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary
- Attend and participate in staff devotions, student chapels, teacher’s meetings, staff/student retreats, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned
- Other duties as assigned

- Participate in Professional Learning Community efforts
- In Community relations the teacher is expected to:
- Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community
- Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus
- Reflect a positive view of Life Center/Life Christian in interaction with the local community, social media, etc.
- Contribute to a positive and enjoyable working environment
- Be proficient with Word, Excel, and ability to become proficient with relevant software and/or applications
