Position Details:
- Senior Human Resources Generalist
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 annually
- Full-Time, Exempt
- 40 hours per week
- Fully Onsite Position in Hayward, CA
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide superior service to all employees, students, and other members of the campus community.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and accuracy of employee records.
- Recruit, screen, and interview internal and external applicants to fill current job openings. Post all open positions on the college website and other appropriate recruitment sites.
- Screen resumes, conduct initial screening with selected applicants, schedule interviews and conduct follow-up debriefs with the interview panel.
- Perform reference and background checks.
- Respond to all incoming HR inquiries in a professional and timely manner, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Create offer letters, appointment letters, job descriptions, employee change forms, and termination letters as needed.
- Onboarding with new hires, faculty, staff, and students.
- Conduct new hire orientations and exit interviews, as needed.
- Manage and maintain the accuracy of HRIS system, HR dashboard, records, forms, and templates.
- Assist with planning and coordination of individual and group training to develop and enhance respectful working environments.
- Responsible for communication and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Consults managers and employees on issues including performance, terminations, sexual harassment, discrimination, etc. Facilitates conversations and meetings as necessary.
- Demonstrate Excellent Employee Relations skills and build trusting, productive relationships with employees, managers, faculty & students.
- Coordinate and plan campus events for the faculty and employees in collaboration with the HR department and Employee Activity Committee.
- Provide general support in all HR functions including, but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance with labor laws, training and development, workplace safety, payroll processing, and organizational planning.
- Assist the HR Director with overall HR department strategic planning and implementation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Communication or related field.
- At least 5 years of Human Resources Experience as a Generalist or Business Partner or a combination of education, experience and/or training. PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP Certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in strategic problem-solving, employee relations, relationship building and change management.
- Experience and knowledge of California Wage and Labor Laws and Regulations
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite and Google Workspace tools.
- Clear and constructive communicator with strong organizational skills.
- Provide professional services objectively and with integrity.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all areas of the position.
- Detail oriented with attention to accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficient interviewing skills, including the ability to objectively and accurately gather facts
- Proficient organizational and project management skills, including ability to meet demanding, evolving and overlapping deadline
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
