Position Details:
- Financial Aid Advisor (Temporary)
- Assignment from March - July 2025
- Salary Range: $30.00 - $33.00 hourly
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- 40 hours per week
- Fully Onsite Position in Hayward, CA
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Advise prospective students (in person and on tours) and current students regarding financial aid eligibility, program requirements and application procedures.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve with Financial Aid Staff any complication in loans or financial aid issues.
- Assist students in resolving credit issues and/or the endorser process.
- Package federal financial aid (loans, federal work study) and prospective student scholarships according to federal regulations and school policies and procedures.
- Prospective Tracker – track status of ISIR, award letter, etc. Resolve any issues before packaging. Communicate at a high level with students.
- Meet with admissions staff weekly to provide them with financial aid status updates and obtain enrollment status updates. Revise spreadsheets after meetings to reflect changes outlined in the meeting.
- Follow-up and resolve financial aid application issues. This may include reviewing prior financial aid history and checking various federal databases, including Common Origination & Disbursement (COD) and NSLDS. Add prospective students to the Transfer Monitoring list in NSLDS. Resolve any conflicts with alerts.
- Prepare new student status letters. This shows the status of financial aid and amount of estimated loan refund for living expenses to students on a quarterly basis.
- ISIR Verifications and the Certification process, resolving conflicting data and C-Flags (citizenship, defaults, etc.). Review all ISIRS and monitor document tracking. Assess and recommend professional judgements cases.
- Run various CAMS queries to support processes and reports.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma Required, Bachelors Preferred
- 1-2 years financial aid experience preferred
- Not in default on a federal student loan
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Required computer skills: Basic experience with MS Office, databases and spreadsheets
- Type minimum of 45 wpm with high degree of accuracy
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Work well with interruptions in a fast paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects and work under pressure
- Excellent work ethics and attendance
- Knowledge of FERPA regulations
- Edconnect, CAMS (or other SIS system) experience preferred
- Higher Education experience preferred
