The NEST Flight Nurse is responsible for working with the Flight Respiratory Therapist in the delivery of advanced critical care to patients of Life Flight Network (LFN). The NEST Flight Nurse assumes and is ultimately responsible for all direct patient care in accordance with the guidelines and protocols of LFN. The NEST Flight Nurse will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people, one-on-one and in large groups, often in highly stressful situations. The NEST Flight Nurse works varied shifts, must be available to cover call shifts, and will be required to drive their personal or company vehicles from time to time when business needs necessitate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five (5) years of critical care experience within the last ten (10) years, minimum of three (3) years in the NICU or PICU, preferred one (1) year minimum in the NICU. Previous flight experience preferred. Flight experience can be substituted year for year for the ICU requirement.
- Current licensure and / or certification as listed below :
RN license as appropriate to assigned location
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
CLINICAL QUALITY : The NEST Flight Nurse will perform to the highest standards of nursing. In addition to basic critical care requirements, the NEST Flight Nurse is trained and maintains competency in the following skills : Chest tube insertion, surgical airways, endotracheal intubation, intraosseous insertion, and central line placement. The NEST Flight Nurse, as the senior member of the flight team, is ultimately responsible for all care rendered to the patient.
SAFETY : The expectations of all customers are understood and exceeded through the provision of quality services.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT : Participates in the development of LFN business and operations plans to meet medical transport service and financial performance goals.
