The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities of the production facility. Works with the executive leadership team to oversee and manage the preparation of strategies, annual budgets and P&L to meet defined objectives. This position reports to the President. Interfaces with external business leaders, trade organizations, municipalities, and supports key customer relationships, while developing and participating in strategic opportunities.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Supports team members to help resolve technical or operational issues, mentors, coaches, and builds knowledge with succession planning in mind for future growth and bench strength, develops corporate policy and initiates appropriate disciplinary proceedings if necessary.
- Is a member of the Life Line leadership team, reporting goals and accomplishments of the respective business areas, and interfaces with external business leaders, equipment dealer organizations and vendors.
- Works closely with Manufacturing Manager to manage production activities and achieve production targets in quality, productivity, efficiency, capacity, safety, cost control, staff development, and customer service.
- Communicates production targets and priorities effectively to manufacturing and support teams.
- Controls costs through effective planning and allocation of personnel, equipment, materials and other resources, and works closely with the President, Controller, Director of Human Resources and Director of National Accounts on future plans, goals and project innovations to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
- Partners with the leadership team to identify and prevent potential monetary losses, protect the Company’s’ financial interests and reduce unnecessary credit exposure within operations. Develops and implements appropriate cost saving ideas for production operations.
- Develops annual operating plan and capital requirements along with the annual budget and 5- year financial forecast. Acts as project manager of all production related capital projects.
- Represents Life Line Emergency Vehicles at industry and company events, including meetings, trade shows, and training.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
- Works in a Corporate environment there is much confidential information that will be discussed. Confidentiality must be maintained and any breach of this confidence will be grounds for termination.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and / or company policy and procedures.
- Communicates production targets and priorities effectively to manufacturing and support teams.
- Maintains a positive, proactive working culture.
- Responsible to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, safety and accomplishment of financial objectives.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives and implement controls and measures of efficiency, quality, compliance and risk mitigation.
- Collaborates and coordinates with executive leadership team to develop companywide operational plans, support the strategic planning process, and ensure resulting plans and strategies are communicated to employee owners.
- Manages maintenance supervisor to coordinate all maintenance, security and upkeep of
buildings, including ensuring proper inspection, licenses, permits, maintenance and repair of building plumbing, and functioning of all electrical and mechanical systems.
