Position Summary:
The Director of Clinical Services reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and works remotely and out of Life Link III’s administrative offices in Shoreview, MN.  The Director of Clinical Services fulfills administrative duties as well as the technical activities necessary to ensure responsiveness to Life Link III’s mission and values.  Ensures a safe and efficient physical environment; oversees a highly trained clinical services staff by collaborating with the Education team; establishes a problem identification and resolution system and assists with the facilitation of a comprehensive marketing and public relations plan in conjunction with the Life Link III Executive Leadership Team. Provides direct supervision to the Regional Clinical Managers (RCMs) and the Clinical Logistics Specialist. Embraces and lives out Life Link III’s mission and values.
 
 
What we are Looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business, or related major or 4 years of equivalent work experience required.
  • Registered Nurse or certified Paramedic, licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, training, strategic leadership, and negotiating skills and used to having poise under pressure.
  • Experience and knowledge of effective management, supervisory, and conflict resolution skills of a critical care services air medical staff that operates in a geographically dispersed environment.
  • Excellent public, employee, and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and establish effective working relationships with vendors, customers, and staff with a keen eye for running consistent operating processes, procedures, and programs throughout the various bases and within the clinical care services staff.
  • Experience with continuous quality improvement. Knowledge of Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards is required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage Life Link III operations that meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Strong customer service skills even under adverse conditions
  • Able to bring a track record of making sound decisions, managing multiple priorities with appropriate prioritizing; and the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Track record of professional performance and commitment, which is aligned with the values and mission of Life Link III and sponsor organizations.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare or Business preferred.
  • Solid experience with large air medical transportation programs
  • Experience and knowledge of state-of-the-art emergency air clinical services, programs, and leading-edge communication services, systems, and technology preferred
 
 
Typical Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with RCMs and Partner Engagement Managers to achieve quality relationships with hospitals that foster continued mutual growth and patient referrals.
  • Oversees and ensures clinical projects/improvements/changes and ideas of the RCM team are prioritized and vetted by necessity and implementation is tracked for effectiveness.
  • Serves as point of contact to key hospital leadership.
  • Actively participates in base expansions and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborates with education to ensure that quality initiatives and outcome data drive education.
  • Actively participates in the Clinical Quality Assurance program through manager-level clinical chart reviews, ensuring feedback is provided and loops are closed.
  • Presents chart reviews at Medical Director and Quality meetings.
  • Communicates expectations of chart reviews by defining the purpose and opportunities for improvement through clinical practice or crew feedback.
  • Works closely with CMO, Medical Directors, RCM team, IT, and Clinical Education to develop and implement robust quality metric systems including clinical excellence and individual performance
  • Collaborates with all departments to ensure compliance and consistency in all CAMTS categories.
  • Works closely with CMO, the Clinical Education team and IT to gather, interpret, track, deliver quality metrics of GAMUT.
  • Works closely with CMO and Clinical Education team in to continuously improve the SIM/Education Center and the clinician onboarding program
  • Work closely with the CMO and Human Resources to develop and continuously evaluate a clinical mentor program
  • Participates in the interview process for the selection of key clinical leadership positions (RCMs, Educators, Base leads, etc.)
  • Supervisory
    • Provides direct supervision to the RCMs and Clinical Logistics Specialist.
    • Conduct one-on-one meetings with individual RCMs and Clinical Logistics Specialist
    • Maintains consistency among RCMs and manages the overall performance of the RCM team
    • Assists RCMs with onboarding, interviews, and coaching of staff as needed.
    • Collaborates with Senior Director of Education and the Clinical Education department to ensure consistency from clinical leadership down to the front-line clinical staff.
    • Actively participates in RCM team meetings and projects
    • Leads and provides continuous improvement for the onboarding program for new RCMs.
    • Serves as the liaison between the RCMs and the CMO and other Medical Directors to ensure clinical best practice
    • Oversees the Clinical Logistics Specialist to ensure the effective optimization, scheduling, and equity of clinicians' schedules
  • Draft, revise, and maintain clinical policies in collaboration with other departments, following compliance and other regulatory guidelines/laws
  • Administrative duties associated with day-to-day success of the clinical team
  • Responsible for preparing the annual budget for Clinical Services
  • Tracks and approves expenses within budget guidelines
  • Collaborates on projects with interdepartmental teams
  • Collaborate with the CMO and other management to develop clinical program goals
  • Provide oversight and leadership for clinical projects
