Summary :

The Medical Science Liaison is a foundational role within the medical affairs team, responsible for providing fair, balanced, and objective scientific information and education to both internal and external partners.

Will support the Commercial Operations and Sales by working in a collaborative and fully compliant manner. This position will support the Ohio River Valley territory including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky (territories subject to change as we grow). Candidates must live within one of these states with strong preference to the greater Cincinnati, OH area.

Responsibilities :

  • Identify, engage, and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and local neurology and nuclear medicine Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), patient advocacy groups, and academic research leaders specializing in dementia care and / or diagnostic imaging.
  • Build, cultivate, and leverage relationships with key external scientific and medical leaders and organizations within region(s) to further patient diagnostic outcomes by integrating scientific information into real-life practice in relevant therapeutic areas and ensure understanding of evolving healthcare trends across the relevant therapeutic landscape.
  • Identify and develop speakers and advocates to support the use of novel imaging tracers in early diagnosis of diseases.
  • Communicate key medical insights from KOLs, HCPs, and academic research leaders to LMI global medical affairs team to inform refinement of medical strategies or tactics.
  • Develop and execute a scientific engagement plan including educational activities with identified (K)OLs, institutions, practices, influencers, and advocacy organizations through collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation skills of scientific and medical data to small and large audiences of diverse backgrounds.
  • Work with medical affairs leadership to proactively assess knowledge gaps (internally & externally) and establish training objectives and initiatives that translate strategy into actionable goal-oriented behavior by field medical affairs.
  • Responsible for ensuring all medical education materials and actions conform to appropriate regulatory, medical, and legal compliance guidance.
  • Work closely with medical affairs leadership and cross-functional stakeholders in development, review, and ongoing evolution of the medical content, creating a foundation for all medical communications and training in defined disease areas.
  • Develop / increase knowledge of medical literature and critical appraisal of scientific publications within relevant therapeutic area(s); maintain a high level of clinical and scientific expertise through ongoing training, self-education, and active participation in journal clubs.
  • Develop and oversee internal and external medical education programs (e.g., symposia, journal clubs, etc.) through collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
  • Work closely with medical affairs leadership and MSLs to oversee development of digital, web-based, and mobile-optimized materials to enhance online HCP education, enable peer-to-peer education among MSLs and external HCPs, while ensuring scientific accuracy, objectivity, fair balance, and alignment with internal scientific plans.
  • Continuously evaluate and measure the effectiveness of current training programs and identify, as necessary, improvements that serve to sustain and improve comprehension, application, impact, and competence.
  • Responsible for the management of multiple vendors including management of associated contracts, budgets, forecast, and accruals.
  • Manage materials, projects, and resources through the internal review and approval process; work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and vendor partners while leading the review of materials through the approval process.
  • Perform all administrative requirements in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner (expense reports, documentation of interactions, etc.).
  • Proactively identify novel avenues to provide value to internal and external stakeholder groups.

Requirements :

  • PhD / MD / PharmD degree preferred but will consider other advanced degrees with 5 years of experience working as an MSL within the neurology field.
  • 2 years’ experience in the neurodegenerative disease therapeutic area.
  • Clinical and / or research experience in general neurology or neurosciences with a preferred specialization in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia diagnosis and treatment / care management.
  • Experience in molecular imaging, radiology, and / or nuclear medicine diagnostic technologies (MRI, PET, SPECT, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in cognition and / or neuropsychological testing preferred.
  • The ability to travel (up to 60%), which may include some weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to quickly understand and communicate all clinical data / publications to support business objectives.
  • Demonstrated abilities to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and effectively influence, collaborate, and communicate with internal and external partners.
  • Must be able to take an undefined objective and lead the process through to operational excellence.
  • Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Prior experience in oral presentations of scientific data to small and large audiences from diverse backgrounds.
