PURPOSE 

 

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruitment of prospective first-time college students and transfer students and supports all enrollment efforts for the university, this position is located on-campus at our San Dimas location. Admissions counselors are responsible for traveling to schools, events, camps, and churches to provide presentations about the university, arrange booth and table, when necessary, as well as coordinate schedules. The counselor handles inquiries, guides students through the admissions process, makes appropriate number of calls to prospective students in the funnel and provides excellent customer service via various channels to meet enrollment goals. The Admissions Counselor reports to the VP of Enrollment Management and works closely with admissions, financial aid, and other staff and faculty within their scope of work.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Effectively communicate the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • Generate inquiries, applications, and enrollments through recruitment activities.
  • Provide timely communication and prioritize moving students through the admissions process.
  • Coordinate personal travel plans for frequent recruitment events, throughout the year.
  • Be flexible with work hours, including nights and weekends, to meet demands, especially when traveling.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with influencers within territory, including high school guidance counselors and   administrators, college transfer centers, and NextGen pastors and other pastors or leaders. 
  • Represent the university positively at public speaking engagements and recruiting events.
  • Meet appropriate level of phone calls to prospective students in the in the admissions funnel.
  • Guide students through the admissions process, including proactive communication and document processing on internal university system (Slate).
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Academics.
  • Host online webinars, virtual information sessions for prospective students.
  • Deliver presentations at various gatherings.
  • Assist in supporting international student enrollment with the Registrar.
  • Communicate with applicants regarding scholarship and financial aid information.
  • Maintain data within established processes.
  • Serve on the LPU Admissions Team.
  • Provide Spiritual care for applicants as needed.
  • Actively integrate Christian faith into professional practice.
  • Model caring relationships and Christian example for students as an effective role model of a Christian life.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in ministry, sales, customer service, or external relations is highly preferred.
  • Strong relational and people skills. Must be able to win people over and make daily calls as needed.
  • Travel is required, including overnight, weekends, and multi-day travel. Typical schedule will be 8-5, M-F but schedule will vary due to travel and events. 
  • A vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the University’s Statement of faith which all employees are required to sign.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, pastors, faculty, staff, & leaders (solid interpersonal, public address, written/verbal communication skills are a must)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects/deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficient working computer knowledge: Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel               
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license.
