Life Pacific University (LPU) seeks candidates for a part-time faculty position as part of Life Pacific Seminary in the School of Theology & Ministry (STM). The Seminary houses our MA in Theological Studies, Master’s in Divinity and will host our future Doctor of Ministry Program (Pending WSCUC/ABHE approval). For nearly 100 years Life Pacific University has educated a diverse student body for service to God in the Church, the workplace, and the world. The preferred start-date for this position is July 2025, terminal degree required. The position involves teaching mostly in our Dmin program, assisting the director with program related activities, assessment, residencies, and program development. This is a part-time teaching position. The Seminary programs are online with residencies and other activities on campus and could be done remotely.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Life Pacific University seeks candidates for a faculty position in the Life Pacific Seminary. This role involves teaching 8 units per semester (16 total), minimum of two 4-unit core courses per semester. Other duties include serving on the academic committee for the Seminary, supporting the director with Dmin related matters, student advising, program assessment, doctoral residencies, and other duties. The position holds academic faculty status and rank according to experience. The faculty member reports directly to the Director of the Seminary, as well as the Dean of the school of Theology & Ministry, and the Provost.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves on the Academic Committee for LPU Seminary.
- Teaches 16 units in an academic year (Two 4-unit courses per semester).
- Supports and Lectures at Seminary residencies.
- Supports the Director with promotion of the program/s and events related with the department.
- Models best instructional practices in online setting and guides colleagues in adopting and improving those practices.
- Provides support with program assessment and program review as needed.
- Faculty advising as needed.
- Engages in scholarly and/or professional activities.
- Actively integrates Christian faith into professional practice and models caring relationships and Christian example for students as an effective role model of a Christian life.
- Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Director of the Seminary and Dean of STM.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a terminal degree in Theology or related fields.
- Online teaching experience.
- Shows willingness and ability to apply the Christian worldview in course design, instruction, and advising.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer knowledge/skills: working knowledge of Windows-based computers; Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff, and the general constituency of Life Pacific.
- Demonstrated Christian faith consistent with Life Pacific University commitment to The Foursquare Church Denomination. Faculty must align to our Pentecostal/Charismatic and Wesleyan Arminian stance (must be able to sign Life Pacific’s Statement of Faith and align with its position on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity).

Candidates must be Christian believers holding a Pentecostal/charismatic perspective and will be required to adhere to the University’s statement of faith and mission. Though not required, this position is optionally eligible to apply for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal duties upon request of the University.
