Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: 5438 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA 19606
Responsibilities:
A hands-on Phlebotomist with responsibility for processing donors, plasma donations using automated plasmapheresis machines and post-donation plasma processing.
- Monitors donor and equipment to ensure health and safety of donors with good bed side manners
- Performs venipuncture with a 17 gauge needle
- Sets up, disconnects, and operates the automated plasmapheresis machines
- Disconnects and disposes of all contaminated disposable equipment
- Plasma processing after donation, taking samples for testing, heat-sealing, and putting away the plasma in -40˚C walk-in freezers
- Cross-train on Medical Screening and other areas, as required
Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomist certification from a reputed school and/or at least 1-year experience as a phlebotomist
- Experience with a 17 gauge needle or larger for blood draws or plasmapheresis
- Requires ability to be mobile for entire work shift
- Requires occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, leaning, reaching above shoulders and below knees, and lifting to 50 lbs.
- Have fine motor coordination, depth perception and ability to monitor equipment sound from a distance
Training will be provided to operate the Plasmapheresis machine for collecting Plasma
Life Plasma performs 10 panel drug and background check prior to hiring.
