Position Overview
We are seeking a responsible and dedicated Dog Walker to join our team and manage a pre-set schedule Monday-Friday 8:15am-4:15pm. The schedule varies slightly based on the day of the week. This role involves traveling to customers' homes, walking dogs according to their specific needs, and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the duration of each walk. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dog behavior, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional pet care.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dog Walking & Engagement
- Walk dogs according to the scheduled duration and route while accommodating their needs.
- Monitor and engage with dogs to promote positive behavior and socialization.
- Implement proper leash techniques to ensure safety and foster appropriate behavior.
2. Safe Dog Handling & Transportation
- Ensure secure leash handling and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
- Safely transport dogs (if applicable) from customers' homes to designated walking areas.
3. Health & Well-Being Monitoring
- Provide fresh water as needed and check for signs of distress or health concerns.
- Ensure each dog has a full water bowl before leaving the premises.
4. Customer Service & Communication
- Manage a pre-set walking schedule efficiently to ensure punctuality for all appointments.
- Report any behavioral or health concerns to management for timely communication with clients.
Qualifications:
1. Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months of professional experience in dog handling, walking, training, or related fields.
- Proven understanding/knowledge of dog behavior and body language.
2. Skills:
- Strong ability to interact with and manage dogs of different sizes, breeds, and behaviors in a calm and confident manner.
- Ability to efficiently manage an active schedule, ensuring punctuality and adherence to scheduled walk durations.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication to engage effectively with clients and provide timely updates to the management team.
3. Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record. With a minimum of 5 years driving experience.
- Must pass a background check and a pet care skills assessment.
- Reliable transportation and cell phone.
- Must be able to work 8:15 am - 4:15 pm Monday through Friday. Schedule may vary.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires frequent outdoor activity and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling while interacting with dogs. Ability to lift, carry, or hold animals up to 50 lbs.
