Description
The Family Advocate works with students and families on Attendance and Retention. The Family Advocate works closely with the school's support staff to determine best service outcomes for students / families and with the community and social service entities to assist in obtaining necessary resources, information, and assistance. The Family Advocate builds an organic awareness of the school by its continued engagement of community and social service entities.

Advisory :
Maintain a caseload of adviseesMeet with advisees on a regular basis to review Success Plan and student IRC participationParticipate in Career Check and Connect day monthlyFacilitate the completion of the OMJReadiness Seal for adviseesTeach and / or facilitate Industry Recognized Credential(s) within your building at a regular cadence during the CTE block of daily instructionDiscovery :
Conduct the Student Needs Assessment as the first activity in DiscoveryAct as the school's Homeless Liaison for qualifying students
Act as an agent of Child Find and ELL identificationCreate a Credit Flex Plan or Flexible Schedule in conjunction with the Principal and Success Coach prior to exiting DiscoveryGoal Sheets :
Review daily Goal Sheet and calculate temporal equivalency to seat time for AIT.Quick Access :
Manage the AIT tab in Quick Access and documents :Triggering absence
Three (3) meaningful attempts for parent / guardian participation on the teamDate plan is created and implementedStudent progress on the planAdditional attempts to retain the studentRetention :
Manage the AIT processDevelops the individual Attendance Intervention Plan for each student including all necessary documentation in accordance with HB410

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in counseling, social service, or related fieldExperience managing a caseload attentively and efficientlySatisfactory completion of state and federal required criminal history checksEligible for an Ohio substitute teaching licenseDesirable experience and credentials :
Valid state Social Worker license (LSW, LPC, LISW, etc.) or license eligibleExperience working with urban high school / adolescents between ages 16-21Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
Strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, and business contacts as requiredExhibits flexibility about workload and priorities and exhibit effective organizational / administrative skills community settingAbility to work in a diverse educational community settingKnowledge of community resources including government, health, and other agenciesAbility to manage and communicate with difficult or emotional students, staff, parents, and community membersAbility to be an active listener and critical thinker and make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicatedAbility to work well under pressure and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistentlyWorking Conditions
