Description
Job purpose
The Staff Accountant provides financial and accounting assistance to Career Prep High Schools
Duties and responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to :
- Coordinates the credit card program for all schools, including monitoring monthly spending, collecting all purchase receipt details, ensuring distribution of new cards as needed and maintain records
- Makes necessary journal entries to an automated general ledger system from a variety of sources, including payroll, STRS / SERS, grants, postage usage, accounts receivable, and account payable
- Prepares monthly reconciliations, including bank accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Participates in month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and recording of journal entries and accruals
- Performs various banking transactions as directed by the Controller
- Investigate budget and variance issues
- Assists in the annual audit process
- Enters invoices into QuickBooks in a timely manner and performs weekly check runs and check distributions
- Assist HR / Payroll from time to time with various tasks
- Maintains all contract and service agreements from all vendors, independent contractors and others performing various work for the companies
- Oversees the check request, expense report and travel reimbursement policies programs
- Gathers and analyzes financial information and identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Coordinates and completes projects on time and within budget, and oversees project team activities
- Performs other finance related duties as needed or directed by Controller
